Dr. Carl Pherson (Agricultural Operations) has been biking to Fresno State for more than 33 years.

Fresno State will participate in California Bike Commute Week, May 12-16, by observing "Bike to Work/School Day" on Wednesday May 14.

The university's Commuter Services-Parking and Transportation department is inviting faculty, staff and students to ride bicycles to the campus.

As an incentive, refreshments will be served from 10 a.m. to noon at the "Red Bike" racks located in the quad area on the northwest side of the Psychology/Human Services building. Raffle prizes will be awarded. Currently, 270 students participate in the university's Red Bike program, and 60 employees participate in the Commuter Services bike to work program.

California Bike Commute Week, the largest event of its kind in the country, is a statewide celebration of bicycling designed to bring attention to bicycle commuting.

For additional activities in the Fresno area please visit http://www.californiabikecommute.com/ or call Annette Harvey, Commuter Services, 8-2277.
