'Energy Saving Bulldogs' will return

Fresno State's "Energy Saving Bulldogs," a team of four specially-trained students who visit campus offices and advise employees on ways to save energy, will again be canvassing the campus this summer.

Dick Smith, director of Utility Management, said the students will work in teams from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., beginning May 19. They will check campus buildings, looking for opportunities to reduce energy consumption, turning off unused lights and encouraging the use of natural daylight where available.

The team members were available for questions and tips on how to reduce energy use at work and will be trained by PG&E in how to save energy at home. They will have brochures with energy-saving information to share with staff, faculty and students.

They also will be training to detect hazardous situations and will be equipped with two-way radios to report safety concerns.
