
Catalog on CD
The 2003-2004 General Catalog is available on CD for the first time. A limited number of CDs are available for $5 plus tax in the Kennel Bookstore on campus.
Traditional printed copies of the 2003-04 catalog are available for $15 plus tax at the Bookstore. The catalog also is available online at www.csufresno.edu/catalog.
The CD was produced by the University Relations office.
CSEA news
The CSEA chapter meeting will be held at noon on May 13 in UC 202. Lunch will be served to the first 55 attendees. Employees represented by CSEA (units 2, 5, 7 and 9) may attend. For more information call Vonda Epperson at 8-5417.

Cultural Tapestry Web site unveiled
"Cultural Tapestry of the Valley," a new Web site designed to reflect and celebrate the cultural diversity of Fresno State, the local community and Central Valley, was unveiled as part of Diversity Week 2003 at Fresno State. The Web Site Preview was presented by Juan Lucero of University Relations, Carole Snee Services for Students with Disabilities and Candace Egan of the Academic Innovation Center. Emeriti Luncheon May 7
The annual Emeriti Luncheon will be held on Wednesday, May 7, in the Residence Dining Facility.

Lyles Gallery display
"Constructions on Wood" by Michael Garcia will be on display through June 8 in the Lyles Gallery in the Speech Arts Building. Hours are noon to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Madden Library wins health project funds
The National Library of Medicine has announced that the Henry Madden Library is among the 37 Access to Electronic Health Information Projects it will be fund in 2003.
Three other Pacific Southwest Region projects are on the list: Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, Phoenix, AZ; San Diego State University; and Hawaii Medical Library.
The Central Valley Access to Electronic Health Information Project will provide training for librarians and other information intermediaries for the public on major
Internet-accessible consumer health, clinical trials and medical research information tools. Groups to be reached include community-based organizations, school library educators, and librarians in Madera, Fresno, Kings and Tulare counties.
Training sessions will be conducted and a Web site that provides access to local and national health information resources will be created.
Old Fresno on display
Display cases in the Special Collections Library (Madden Library 4th floor) through August will feature "Images of Old Fresno" photographs and commentary on historical Fresno landmarks, such as the Water Tower, the Millerton Courthouse and the Barton Opera House. The display is sponsored by the Special Collections Library.
Peruvian 'Cliff Mummies' topic of archeology talk
Dr. Keith Muscutt, an assistant dean at the University of California at Santa Cruz, will speak on "Warriors of the Clouds: Cliff Mummies of the Chachapoyas, Peru" on Monday, May 5, at 7 p.m. in the University Center room 200.
Muscutt is the author of "Warriors of the Clouds" and has produced two videos, "Cliff Mummies of the Andes" and "Cliff Mummies of the Andes Unwrapped" for The History Channel. For more than 20 years, he has been exploring the Chachapoyas region of northeastern Peru. He is known for his efforts to find, excavate and protect several burial caves of the Chachapoyas people. They were conquered by the Incas about 1470 and have long been thought of as one of the "lost civilizations" of South America.
The lecture is part of the 2003 Archaeological Institute of America lecture series and is co-sponsored by the Fresno County Archaeological Society / San Joaquin Valley Chapter, Archaeological Institute of America, and the Department of Geography and College of Social Sciences.

Russia and Armenian Church Topic of May 16 lecture
Dr. George Bournoutian, senior professor of Middle Eastern and East European history at Iona College of New York will present a lecture on "Russia and the Armenian Church in the 17th-19th Centuries: Religion, Politics, and Nation Building" at 7:30 PM on Friday, May 16 in the Alice Peters Auditorium of the University Business Center. Bournoutian has taught Armenian History at Columbia University, NYU, University of Connecticut, Tufts University, Ramapo College and Glendale Community College. He has been called the foremost authority on Eastern Armenia from the 16th to the 19th centuries.
The lecture, co-sponsored by the Armenian Studies Program and the Armenian General Benevolent Union of Fresno, is free and open to the public. For more information call the Armenian Studies Program at 8-2669.

Summer hours
President Welty has approved a summer work schedule, effective May 19, through Aug. 15. The university's workday will be from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with the lunch period from noon to 12:30 p.m. An area supervisor may allow some variation for employees with a demonstrated need; however, the regular office hours as noted must be maintained. Staff approved to participate in the summer flexible work schedule option will have a modified work schedule. However, the normal work schedule for each full-time employee not participating in the flexible work schedule option is, of course, eight hours per day.
