Dr. Ara Sanjian, assistant professor of Armenian History at Haigazian University in Beirut, Lebanon, has been appointed for the fall 2003 semester as the Henry S. Khanzadian Kazan Visiting Professor in Armenian Studies at Fresno State University. more

The university’s annual Benefits Fair will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 30 with representatives from health, dental and vision insurance carriers on hand to provide information. more

Microsoft Corporation has recently issued several critical system updates and security patches for Windows NT, 2000 or XP operating systems to help prevent unauthorized access that may allow a third party to take control of your computer for whatever purposes they choose. This could include compromise or destruction of sensitive data, identity theft and fraud and denial of service attacks. more

Rehabilitation Counseling Program Gets $1 Million
Congressman Devin Nunes announced in June that the Rehabilitation Counseling Program at Fresno State is the recipient of $1 million. more

Renowned journalist
named Tatarian Chair

Tommy Miller, managing editor of the Houston Chronicle, has been named the new Roger Tatarian Chair in Journalism and joins the Mass Communication and Journalism faculty this fall. more

Fresno State wines win
at State Fair

Four Fresno State student-produced wines won medals at this year’s California State Fair Wine Competition, led by the 2001 Viognier with a gold medal. more

University Journal deadlines
The Journal will be published online on the first day of each month – or the weekday closest to the first – from September through May. The only exception is January, when the publication date will be Jan. 9. more

20 honored at Emeriti luncheon
Nineteen faculty members and an administrator were honored at the 30th Annual Faculty Emeriti Luncheon on May 7 hosted by President Welty and Interim Provost Jeri Echeverria. more

Library to enforce ‘no cell phone’ rule
The Madden Library is committed to providing an atmosphere conducive to study and research. Noise from cell phones, pagers and similar electronic devices, as well as loud conversations, is disruptive to a study environment. more

Two professors win Fulbright grants
Dr. William Mallios (Information Systems and Decision Sciences) and Dr. Doug Singleton (Physics) have received fellowships from the Fulbright Foundation under the Scholar Program for 2003-04. more

Campus now has designated smoking areas
As of July 1, 2003, Fresno State is a “smoke-free” campus with designated smoking areas. more

Microsoft partners with Computer Science Department
Microsoft Corp. sponsored two programming competitions at Fresno State for the first time in April 2003, hosted by the Department of Computer Science and the MESA Engineering Program. more
