Two professors win Fulbright grants

Dr. William Mallios (Information Systems and Decision Sciences) and Dr. Doug Singleton (Physics) have received fellowships from the Fulbright Foundation under the Scholar Program for 2003-04.

Mallios received a grant on The Aegean Initiative in Greece and Turkey. In Greece he will be affiliated with Macedonia University and The American College of Thessaloniki, and in Turkey, with Koc University.

He will be presenting seminars and conducting collaborative research in two areas: forecasting price movements during periods of market inefficiency and small business development through virtual business incubators.

Singleton will visit the research group of Professor Vitaly Melnikov at the People’s Friendship University in Moscow from January through July. The theoretical research program that he proposes to carry out will be to study various wormhole and black hole solutions in higher dimensional gravity theories.

He has been doing work on certain aspects of higher dimensional theories since 1998 with several scientists from the former Soviet Union.
