(Philosophy) published “Listening to the Animals: The Confucian View of Animal Welfare,” in the Journal of Chinese Philosophy, 30:2 (June, 2003), 137-157.

He spoke on “More to the Story? The Wonders of Individuality and Self-identity in Plotinus,” at the Conference of the International Society of Neoplatonic Studies in New Orleans, June 5-8. He spoke on “The Moral-Political Potential of a Global Care Ethics,” at the Conference on Comparative Philosophy in Times of Terror, Society for Asian and Comparative Philosophy in Asilomar, May 27-30. He spoke on “The Lure of the Transcendent in Zhu Xi” at the American Philosophical Association meeting in San Francisco in March.
