Music in October

A wide range of musical sounds will be featured on campus during October.

Oct. 3 – Sahan Arzruni, celebrating the works of Aram Khatchaturian as part of the Philip Lorenz Memorial Keyboard Concert Series, Concert Hall. Admission: $12.50 general; $7 seniors; $5 students.

Oct. 8 – Fresno State String Orchestra, 7 p.m., Concert Hall. Admission: $8 general; $5 faculty/staff/seniors; $3 students.

Oct. 10 – Viva Musica String Concert Series, inaugural season featuring works by Haydn, Mozart and Schumann. Pre-concert lecture at 7 p.m., concert at 8 p.m., Wahlberg Recital Hall. Admission: $12.50 general; $7 seniors; $5 students.

Oct. 14 – Paul Badura-Skoda, Philip Lorenz Memorial Keyboard Concert Series.

Oct. 15 – Paul Badura-Skoda Piano Masterclass, 9:30 a.m., Wahlberg Recital Hall.

Admission: Free

Oct. 16 – Fresno State Jazz Ensembles, featuring Jazz Bands "A" and "B" and Jazz Combos, 8 p.m., Concert Hall. Admission: $6 general; $4 students/seniors.

Oct. 17 – Dieter Wulfhorst, Faculty Cello Recital, 8 p.m., Wahlberg Recital Hall. Admission: Free.

Oct. 18 – 3 rd   Annual String Day, open to string students grades 7 and up, starting at 8 a.m. To register for workshop, call Dieter Wulfhorst at 8-7547. Public concert at approximately 6 p.m. in Concert Hall. Concert admission is free.

Oct. 21 – Wind Ensemble, special event fund-raiser to benefit trip to New Orleans Jazz and Wind Band Festival. Works by R. Strauss, Puccini, Rimsky-Korsakov Meyerbeer, Sharp and a new work by Eric Whitacre, 8 p.m., Concert Hall. Admission: $25 for dinner and concert; $10 for concert only.

Oct. 24 – U.S. Army Jazz Ambassadors with CSUF Jazz Band "A," 7:30 p.m.,

Concert Hall. Admission: Free. Limited seating. Advance tickets required. Call 8-2137 for tickets.

Oct. 29 – Wind Ensemble II, 8 p.m., Concert Hall, Admission: to be announced.

Oct. 30 -- "Chaos" Recital presented by MPE and SAI to benefit  Fresno State Recording Studio, 8 p.m., Concert Hall. Admission: $6 general; $5 faculty/staff/seniors; $4 students.
