Equestrian student diesShana Virginia Eriksson, the Fresno State student-athlete injured in a horseback riding accident, died on Sept. 27. Miss Eriksson, 18 of Tahoe City, Calif., died at University Medical Center in Fresno where she had been in critical condition since the Sept. 24 accident on the campus farm. The University Police Department and University officials are continuing their official review to determine the cause of the accident. Shana was trailriding with two other students at about 5:15 p.m. when Shana's horse fell, University Police reported. One of the other students was slightly injured when she jumped from her horse. The third student was not injured. All three are members of Fresno State's equestrian team. Coach Chuck Smallwood asked the team to dedicate the upcoming season to Shana. |
