Reading List updated

The Library Subcommittee of the Academic Senate is seeking suggestions from faculty for additions to and deletions from the Madden Library Recommended Reading List. (See the current list at www.lib.csufresno.edu/libraryinformation/libraryreadinglist.html ).

In 2001 the list was compiled by the Library Subcommittee in consultation with a wide range of faculty throughout the university. It is meant to serve as a recreational reading list for undergraduate students, rather than a "Great Books" list.

Last year the subcommittee decided that it would review the list every two years, starting in autumn 2003, by actively   seeking suggestions from faculty. Suggestions can be made by submitting a form on the Library's Web site www.lib.csufresno.edu/libraryinformation/contribute.html . This Web site also has a short description of the criteria used to select books for the list.

Suggestions are due by Nov. 21.

On Dec. 5, from 2 to 2:50 p.m., there will be a special open meeting of the subcommittee in the Room 250, the Library administrative conference room on second floor, north. Any faculty member is welcome to give a five-minute presentation on a book that he or she would like added to or removed from the   list. Please notify the chair of the subcommittee, Kathie Reid (e-mail kreid ), if you would like to make a presentation.
