Army ROTC cadets hit the field
Fresno State Army ROTC conducted its annual Field Training Exercise
at the scenic Fort Hunter Liggett on Oct. 3-5. Approximately 120 Army
and Air Force cadets participated in various training events, including
rappelling, confidence/obstacle courses, rifle marksmanship, land navigation
course (orienteering) and an outdoor team-paintball competition. Cadets
also flew in a military rotary-wing aircraft.
Fresno State Army ROTC Bulldog Battalion is one of the top-ranked ROTC
programs in the nation.
The Field Training Exercise is a three-day event designed to build
leadership skills, confidence, unit cohesion and an appreciation for
teamwork among the cadets. It includes physical and mental challenges
that bring the inner strengths within each cadet forward.
Throughout the Leadership Training Exercise, the elite Ranger Challenge
Team will be practicing for the upcoming Ranger Challenge Competition.
In 2002, Fresno State's Ranger Challenge Team won 1st place among other
schools the ROTC Western Region.
