Nordenschild honored as Elite CoachFresno State's head strength and conditioning coach Ed Nordenschild was awarded the inaugural Coach Practitioner Award by The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) in October. One of 18 singled out world wide and one of six NCAA Division I coaches honored, Nordenschild was chosen based on achievements, competency, assessment of practical/applied experience, interest in, and contribution to, the profession of strength and conditioning. Nordenschild, who is in his fifth year at Fresno State, has coached five NSCA All-Americans, including David Carr, the NFL's No. 1 draft pick in 2002. "It's a tremendous honor but working with these student-athletes, across the board, makes my job easy," said Nordenschild, who oversees the weight room, its personnel and the strength and conditioning programs of the Bulldogs' 10 women sports, men's basketball andbaseball. "I work with great people. It means a lot to be part of this (NSCA) program from the ground level." This is the first year in which the NSCA has implemented the Coach Practitioner Program. |
