A candlelight vigil and display of a portion of the NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt are among activities planned for the Dec. 1-3 observance of World AIDS Day 2003 at Fresno State.

“ Stigma and Discrimination” is the theme of the observance sponsored by United Student Pride. All events are free and open to the public.

An information and health fair will be held in the Free Speech Area from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 1. Many campus groups and off-campus organizations will be on hand, including Saint Agnes Medical Center, University Medical Center, Planned Parenthood and Central California Pride Network.

A candlelight vigil in memory of those who have died of AIDS and those who are currently living with the disease will be held Dec. 2. It will include guest speakers and an open microphone opportunity in the Fresno State Peace Garden from 6-9 p.m.

On Dec. 3, a section of the NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt will be hung in the Satellite Student Union from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
