McGowan joins board

President Welty has named Fresno banking executive J. Mike McGowan to the University Advisory Board, a panel of community members who provide the president advice regarding the improvement and development of the university.

McGowan is president, chief executive officer and member of the board of directors of Premier Valley Bank in Fresno . He has been president and CEO from the bank's inception in 2001 and has overseen growth to more than $120 million in assets.

McGowan has more than 30 years of diversified financial services experience, and has a broad and successful record of achievement in board membership, strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions and operations.

"I am pleased that Mike McGowan has agreed to serve in this capacity," said Welty. "His expertise and vision will be a benefit to our board and the university."

The new Advisory Board chair is Hugo Morales, and vice-chair is Jim Anton. Members are Elaine Bernard, John Boogaert, Julia Brown, Dr. Katherine Flores, Hugo Morales, Michael Patton, James Shekoyan, Julie Tone, Joe Williams and Kirk DeVerteuil.
