Summer study opportunityFresno State is a member of the University Studies Abroad Consortium (USAC) and through this affiliation a one-month summer study opportunity for professional development is open to full-time faculty and professional staff. The two applicants selected for this study opportunity will join undergraduate students in the classroom overseas to study foreign language and other subjects for one month in summer. On returning to campus, the faculty or staff person is expected to share their international knowledge with the community and be available to advise Fresno State students about study abroad. The application is due by Jan. 30, 2004 at the International Programs Office, M/S FF83. The award will be announced by March 1. The application is at the bottom of this message. Feel free to copy. The 2004 USAC Faculty and Professional Staff International Development Award (FIDA) will be available for the following USAC programs: Chile , China , Costa Rica , Czech Republic , England (London or Reading), France (June only), Germany , Ghana , Italy or Spain . This award is offered so that faculty or staff may participate as a student for a one month-long summer session. USAC pays the program tuition and a $1,500 award, which is intended to cover the airline ticket and some housing costs. Additional expenses are the responsibility of the recipient. Applicants must be full-time assistant, associate or full professors, or professional staff. Preference is given to applicants with limited experience living abroad. Applicants must be returning on contract to Fresno State in 2004-2005. There will be two awards given to Fresno State applicants. Please attach a brief statement regarding your reasons for interest in the program site that you have selected. Include your professional goals and your plans to implement these activities to enhance the internationalization of Fresno State.
