Cognitive Science lectures

As part of the development of a Cognitive Science major and minor, the Linguistics Department is hosting a lecture series (Ling. 140T) on Cognitive Science in Spring 2004.

Cognitive Science is an interdisciplinary area of study focusing on cognition: How we think about and perceive the world, the nature of thought itself and how we can model the ways in which we think or perceive.

The seminar brings together key areas of linguistics, psychology, philosophy and computer science.

Guest speakers include researchers and scientists from various universities and research institutions, including NASA, the University of Washington , the University of Arizona and the State University of New York. A number of local scholars from a variety of departments also will present lectures.

The lecture schedule can be found at: http://zimmer.csufresno.edu/~wlewis/NewCourses/CogSci-Seminar.htm. This schedule is subject to change as more guest speakers respond.

Lectures will be offered weekly on Thursdays from 6:30-8 p.m. in Science Building , Room 147, unless otherwise announced. All interested people may attend.

For more information contact William Lewis at 8-2441.
