THE JAN & BUD RICHTER AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION
(2003-2004)
The faculty and staff of the Kremen School of Education and Human Development (KSOEHD) have a rich history of contributions to the fields of education and human services. To recognize these outstanding accomplishments in service to the Mission of the KSOEHD, Dr. and Mrs. Richter have established the Annual Jan & Bud Richter Awards of Excellence in Education at California State University , Fresno . There are three awards:
-
The Jan & Bud Richter Award of Excellence in Education for Faculty in the KSOEHD
This Award is for KSOEHD faculty members who have excelled in their field of expertise and have continually served to promote the mission of the KSOEHD.
These faculty contributions include excellence in:
- Teaching and preparation of professionals
- Initiating rigorous and creative research to advance the knowledge base of the fields of education and human development
- Providing academic leadership and the development of campus programs
- Developing strong and productive community-based programs
- Advocating for students
- Establishing close and collaborative working relationships with teachers, administrators, and professionals in the central valley's schools and community
- The Jan & Bud Richter Award of Excellence in Education for Liberal Studies Faculty (outside of KSOEHD)
This Award is for Fresno State faculty members who are not in the KSOEHD but who are greatly involved with students who have stated their intent to attain a teacher credential. These faculty members demonstrate a commitment to the mission of the KSOEHD and through their teaching, research and service, address the needs of students who will soon become Pre-school - 12th grade teachers. The faculty member who receives this award provides students with the in-depth knowledge needed in their particular subject area to teach this material to others, or with pedagogical content knowledge.
- The Jan & Bud Richter Award of Excellence in Education for Staff Members in the KSOEHD
This Award is for staff members within KSOEHD who have demonstrated commitment to their responsibilities in the School. For many students and community members the KSOEHD staff member is frequently the only available means to communicate to KSOEHD one's needs, wants, questions, concerns, complaints and compliments. This award is for staff members who not only provide excellent support for faculty members, but who advocate for students and also provide excellence in KSOEHD student and community relations.
