Forgivable Loan Program
Feb. 13 is the deadline for applications for the 2004/2005 Forgivable Loan Program. The program provides financial assistance to graduate students and is designed to increase the pool of individuals who show promise of becoming strong candidates for CSU instructional faculty positions. It is a competitive program directed by the CSU but open to doctoral students across the country. more

Avoiding mistakes
Dr. John Franz, Fresno State's Employee Assistance director, will discuss "10 Mistakes People Make That Mess Up Their Work Lives" at a Life+Works+Links program on Tuesday, Feb.3, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Smittcamp Whitten room. His light-hearted and poignant PowerPoint reflections summarize insights and observations gathered over nearly two decades of problem-solving efforts. more

Aging and public health
Fresno State has formed a partnership with the California Geriatric Education Center develop a program for physicians, nurses, social workers, public health educators and other aging network professionals who have responsibilities for meeting the needs of the increasing elder population. more

Health conference
"Healthy Communities in the California Heartland: A Call to Action" is the theme of the third annual Central California Health Conference, which will be held Thursday, Feb. 5, at the Fresno Convention Center Exhibit Hall. more

CSET workshop
Students preparing to take the new California Subject Examinations for Teachers (CSET) have the opportunity to enroll in a test preparation workshop offered through the Kremen School of Education. more

Blood Drive Feb. 11-12
The Central California Blood Center will be holding a blood drive on campus on Wednesday, Feb.11, and Thursday, Feb. 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the University Student Union, Main Lobby. All donors will receive a donor appreciation gift, including See's Candy, Valentine's Flowers and numerous discount coupons for various local businesses. more

Call for Abstracts
A call for abstracts from all areas of investigation has been issued for the 25th Annual Central California Research Symposium, scheduled for Thursday, April 22, in the University Business Center . Deadline to submit abstracts for presentation consideration is March 19. more

University High School will hold its final Program and Open House for prospective students and their families on Saturday, Feb. 7, starting at 2 p.m. more

For the sixth straight summer, the College of Arts and Humanities at Fresno State will host the CSU Summer Arts Program. more

International Opportunities
Each year, Fresno State faculty are invited to apply to teach abroad for a semester or summer session in a program offered by USAC (University Studies Abroad Consortium). USAC offers faculty the chance to teach at several of their study-abroad locations as Visiting Professors. more

Graduate programs planning to propose curriculum/catalog changes need to submit the required forms to the Division of Graduate Studies by March 15. Graduate forms are available on Informed Filler®. Graduate Student Research Merit Award
The application deadline for the Graduate Student Research Merit Award is Friday, March 19, 2004 . Applications are available in the Division of Graduate Studies, Thomas Administration Building , room 132. The $750 awards are provided for meritorious graduate student research proposals associated with the thesis/project/dissertation requirement. more

University Graduate Medal
The Division of Graduate Studies is now accepting nominations for the 2004 University Graduate Medal. A nominee for this recognition should be the College/School Graduate Dean's Medalist who has clearly displayed distinguished scholarly and creative excellence in their discipline/field and is eligible for graduation with distinction (3.9 GPA on all coursework) and are Summer 2003, Fall 2003, or Spring 2004 graduates. The deadline for workshop information submissions for Preview Day 2004 has been extended to Friday, Feb. 6. The event is sponsored by the Office of University Outreach. more

Engineers Week
National Engineers Week will be observed by the College of Engineering and Computer Science Engineering Students Joint Council with "Engineers at the Mall" on Feb. 21-22 at Fashion Fair Mall. This annual event highlights student projects and club activities designed to attract students to engineering and computer since, as well as educate the public about the engineering profession. more

Program evaluators
Are you interested in learning how to become a program evaluator? Do you have a colleague or friend who is interested? The Center for Research, Evaluation, Assessment, and Dissemination (CREAD) in the Kremen School of Education is beginning its second year of funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF) for our certificate in program evaluation. more
