Program evaluators

Are you interested in learning how to become a program evaluator?  Do you have a colleague or friend who is interested?  The Center for Research, Evaluation, Assessment, and Dissemination (CREAD) in the Kremen School of Education is beginning its second year of funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF) for our certificate in program evaluation.

We are now beginning to recruit new participants for the second cohort for this program.  The goal of this project is to prepare practitioners in school districts and at postsecondary institutions to be program evaluators for funded programs or for on-site programs at their institutions.  The course work includes not only program evaluation methodology, but also quantitative and qualitative methods courses and practical applications of the course work.

The grant allows us to offer stipends to 15 participants this year.  The $1,500 stipend will cover approximately half of the tuition and books costs.  Candidates should already have a master's degree.  We expect participants to be fully employed while they complete the program over a period of approximately 12 months (seven courses).  All courses include both classes at the university and online work.

Interested candidates may see the program information at our Web site http://education.csufresno.edu (look under Programs and click on NSF). The application form is also available on the Web page.  We plan to begin courses for the second cohort of participants in April 2004.

If you have any questions, e-mail either Phyllis Kuehn at phyllisk@csufresno.edu or Sharon Brown-Welty at sharonb@csufresno.edu , project co-directors.
