Student-athletes honored

The Western Athletic Conference announced its all-academic honors for the 2003 fall sports and Fresno State finished among the league's top three for most student-athletes honored, as announced by the league office.

Among the 10 conference schools, Fresno State was one of three to have at least 25 student-athletes selected as 186 total student-athletes were named to the list.

Football, which had eight honorees, and women's cross country, which had seven, finished among the top two in their respective sports. Volleyball and women's soccer, which had five selected each, finished third and fourth overall, respectively.

To be eligible for WAC All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic year, have at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's contests.
