Call for abstracts
A call for abstracts from all areas of investigation has been issued for the 25th Annual Central California Research Symposium, scheduled for Thursday, April 22, in the University Business Center . Deadline to submit abstracts for presentation consideration is March 19. more

  

Lyles Center workshop
The Lyles Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship will sponsor a workshop on March 19 on "Protecting, Licensing, and Selling Intellectual Property." It will be presented from 8 a.m. to noon in the University Business Center , room 194, by Riley C. Walter and Gregory S. Powell of Walter Law Group. The fee is $20. Chicano Alumni Web site
The Chicano Alumni of Fresno State unveiled its new official Web site during a special reception with the Central California Hispanic Chamber of Commerce during February. more

Cognitive Science series
Dr. D. Terence Langendoen, a professor in the department of linguistics at the University of Arizona , will give the third lecture in March for the new Cognitive Science weekly lecture series, hosted by the Linguistics Department. more

Digital Campus open forum
An open forum to discuss Digital Campus will be held in UC 202 on Thursday, March 4, from 11 to 11:50a.m. more

Friends of Library program
Fresno historian and author Cathy Rehart will speak on "Culture and Entertainment in the Young City of Fresno" at the Friends of the Madden Library program on March 12 at 6:30 p.m. more

Family Concert
The Life+Work+Links program is sponsoring a Fresno Philharmonic Orchestra Family Concert for faculty, staff, family, friends and students. The concert will be on Saturday March 6 from 10 a.m. to noon in the William Saroyan Theatre in downtown Fresno . Tickets are $10 adults and $5 for children 12 and under. An "instrument petting zoo," musical games and activities will be held from 10-11 a.m. and the concert featuring Eliabeth Stoyanovich from 11-noon. Anxiety screening
University Health and Psychological Services will offer an opportunity to students, faculty and staff to learn how to recognize the signs of anxiety disorders and to participate in a free screening on Thursday, March 4, as part of the College Anxiety Screening Day. more

Summer Session catalogs will be available from the Kennel Bookstore and the Extension Programs Office (ED 130) beginning March 2. more

Students can earn academic credit while studying in another country thanks to several short-term travel study programs offered this summer through the Division of Continuing and Global Education.

Fee waiver deadlines
Staff and faculty, who plan to use their Fee Waiver benefits for the fall 2004 semester must submit their Fee Waiver Application to Employment Services by May 15, 2004 , in order avoid a delay in processing or overpayment of fees. more

Disney internship
Faculty and staff are asked to inform students that a presentation on the Walt Disney World Internship Program will be held March 22 at 5 p.m. in University Business Center , Room 191. All majors are welcome! Information will be provided on paid internships in Orlando , Fla. Students must be 18 years or older and be enrolled in any accredited college. Research competition deadline
Wednesday, March 17, is the deadline for individuals to submit their applications to the University Grants and Research Office for the 18th Annual California State University Student Research Competition. more

Social norms Web site
The social norms Web site is now operational. Martin Valencia (Art and Design) did the fine artistic and technical work. The goals of Fresno State 's social norms project are to reduce high risk drinking, alcohol-impaired driving and other forms of alcohol-related harm. web site

Social work conference
The Annual Social Work Conference, "Social Justice:  Helpers or Control Agents Facing the Conflicts in Practice," will be held on March 19 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fresno Radisson Hotel, 2233 Ventura in downtown Fresno .  Keynote speakers are Terry Mizrahi, MSW., Ph.D. and Joseph Nunn, LCSW, Ph.D.  Continuing Education Credits are offered for LCSW and MFT.  The individual registration fee is $100.  Registration forms are available in the Department of Social Work Education in the Psychology Human Services building, room 128.

Graduate change requests
Graduate programs planning to propose curriculum/catalog changes need to submit the required forms to the Division of Graduate Studies by March 15. Graduate forms are available on Informed Filer®. helenma@csufresno.edu.

Grad student award
The application deadline for the Graduate Student Research Merit Award is Friday, March 19.  Applications are available in the Division of Graduate Studies, Thomas Administration Building , room 132. more

Craig fellowships
The Division of Graduate Studies will once again award the Robert and Norma Craig (RNC) Fellowships.  The RNC Fellowships $1,000 (based on 100 hours at $10 an hour), are designed to provide benefits to both graduate students and faculty. more

Brown Bag Book Club
In celebration of Fresno State 's new recommended reading list, the Madden Library sponsors University Brown Bag Book Club Discussions. Professors from all disciplines take turns facilitating discussion. Students, faculty, and Friends of the Madden Library are invited to bring their lunches and participate. more

Commencement rentals
Faculty and staff may place rental orders for graduation apparel at the Kennel Bookstore through April 14. After that date, a $10 processing fee will be charged. For more information call Tam Rose at 8-7687 or Jack Gartner at 8-4271.

Preview Day
Preview Day 2004 will be held at Fresno State on Saturday, March 27, from 8:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. to provide applicants for the fall 2004 semester an opportunity to interact with faculty in a simulated classroom setting. more

Dr. Robert O. Freedman, a distinguished political scientist and analyst, will discuss "The Bush Administration and the Arab-Israeli Conflict - A Three Year Evaluation," on Thursday, March 11. more
