Service for Gina Arce

Dr. Gina Arce, who served as a Fresno State Professor of Botany for 40 years (1956-1996), passed away January 30, 2004 in York , Penn. , after a long illness.  Although her last years were spent in the East with the niece she raised, her heart and spirit remained tied to the Central Valley , especially to the triumphs of the sports teams and former sports stars of Fresno State .

To honor her commitment to quality science education, her good humor and her generosity towards students, colleagues and friends, a "Celebration of Life" commemoration will be held on the Fresno State campus at the Downing Planetarium on April 1 from 5-7 pm .  The Biology Department Greenhouses, where Gina conducted many of her instructional and research activities, will offer an open house as part of the festivities.
