University Police Department Adds Interim Lieutenant

Law enforcement veteran Jim Lusk has joined the University Police Department in an interim position as lieutenant.

Lusk retired from the Fresno Police Department in September 2003 with the rank of lieutenant. He served with the department for 29 years, starting as a cadet and working his way up the ranks.

He has been an instructor at the Fresno City College Police Academy since 1992.

Among Lusk’s assignments for the Fresno Police Department was northeast field commander, which includes the university area, so he is familiar with the campus and the University Police Department.

Lusk also feels at home at Fresno State because he and his entire family are Bulldogs. His wife was the first to graduate, in 1991. He was next in 1994 (BS in Criminology, law enforcement option), his son followed in 2000 and his daughter is currently enrolled.

“We’re certainly happy to have Lt. Lusk temporarily join our department,” said Director of Public Safety David Moll. “His experience and knowledge of the community and campus will be great assets to our operations.”
