Dickran Kouymjian (Armenian Studies) was a collaborator in the book “La Storia di Alessandro il Macedone” (The History of Alexander of Macedonia). The book is a luxurious facsimile reproduction of the beautiful manuscript of the Armenian version (a manuscript of about 1300 AD) now one of the treasures of the Armenian Mekhitarist Catholic Brotherhood on the Island of San Lazzaro , Venice .  The work is in two volumes, the exact reproduction and a companion volume of essays.

Betty Garcia (Social Work Education) co-presented a paper at the Winter Roundtable, Teachers College, Columbia University on Feb. 21, entitled "What Are My Looks?  There Is More Than Meets The Eye: Phenotypes, Identity and Multicultural Education." She also was co-chair of the Council on Social Work Education Annual Program Meeting in Anaheim, Feb. 27-March 1.  As part of the program she presented the book that she co-authored, "Diversity Education for Social Justice," at a Meet the Authors panel and chaired several presentations.

Angelica Carpenter (Library) has been elected president of the International Wizard of Oz Club. Her three-year term begins in June, at the Ozmopolitan Convention in Naperville, Ill. The club has 1,300 members in all 50 states and 15 countries.

Carpenter is co-author of “L. Frank Baum: Royal Historian of Oz.”

Sari H. Dworkin (Counseling, Special Education, and Rehabilitation) co-authored “LGBT identity, violence, and social justice: The psychological is political,” published in the International Journal for the Advancement of Counseling, 25, (4), 269-279.

Chris Fiorentino and Trisha Studt (Students for Community Service) and student Molly Fagundes presented a workshop titled “Recognize Them and They Will Come:  Strengthening Civic Engagement Efforts through a Comprehensive Recognition Program” at the Western Region Campus Compact Consortium's "Continuums of Service" Conference in San Diego on March 12.

Margie Wright (head softball coach) will be honored by the National Women's Political Caucus-California on April 3 at its California Awards Gala.  The awards honor outstanding community and civic leaders for their efforts to improve women's lives.

President Welty delivered the keynote address to the Association of College Administration Professionals conference on March 14.
