"The Rape of the Nile"

World famous archaeologist Dr. Brian Fagan will speak on "The Rape of the Nile " at 7:15 p.m. Monday, May, 3, in University Center, room 200.

Fagan's free lecture on the history of the discovery and removal of Egyptian artifacts will take the audience on an excursion into a long-vanished and romantic world, where tomb robbers were not afraid to go after their competitors with a gun, and where the stakes were royal tombs and international fame.

A Professor Emeritus of the University of California at Santa Barbara , Fagan has been published in numerous journals and has received several awards for his research and devotion to education.

The lecture is jointly sponsored by the Fresno County Archaeological Society/San Joaquin Chapter of the Archaeological Institute of America, the Central Sierra Historical Society and Fresno State 's College of Social Sciences , Anthropology Club and Geography Club.

For more information contact Michael Moratto at 8-6045.
