Emeriti Luncheon
The annual Emeriti Luncheon will be held on Wednesday, May 5, in the
Residence Dining Facility.
We will be honoring the following persons who were awarded emeritus
status at the 2003 Commencement: Audrey Anderson, Extended Education;
Mary Banigan, Nursing; Kelly Black, Information Systems and Decision
Sciences; Gerald Bryan, Marketing and E-Business. more
Bowerman heads to San Bernardino
Dr.
Karen Dill Bowerman, interim dean of the Craig School of Business, has
accepted a position as Dean of the College of Business and Public Administration
at California State University, San Bernardino, effective fall 2004.

Rawat wins Laval award
Dr.
Mamta Rawat, an assistant professor of biology, has been selected as
this year's recipient of the Claude Laval, Jr. Award for Innovative
Technology and Research for her proposal, "Bioremediation of Toxins
with Mycobacterium Smegmatis." more
Voluntary programs to avoid
layoffs
As was discussed at the campus Budget Forum, the budget situation in
this state is such that there have been significant reductions imposed
on the CSU 2004/05 budget. There have been lengthy discussions on this
campus about how we can meet the reductions. Unfortunately, it
has been determined that three layoffs may occur in CSEA unit 9 on our
campus. more
Recognition Ceremony May

Carol Whiteside, president and Founder of the Great Valley Center and
former mayor of Modesto , will be the keynote speaker at the fourth
annual Recognition Ceremony and Spirit of Community Awards celebrating
American Humanics, Kauffman and Radin Scholars. It will be Wednesday,
May 12, at the University Business Center from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. more

Peace Garden artist sought
The Peace Garden Steering Committee has begun the search for an artist to create the Jane Addams monument for the Peace Garden at Fresno State . Design proposals for a bronze sculpture will be sought first from Fresno State students, faculty, staff or alumni. Proposals are due June 1. more
