Abhold named interim budget officer

Provost Jeri Echeverria has named Dr. Ray Abhold as interim Budget Officer for Academic Affairs on a half-time basis for 2004-05.

Abhold has provided leadership in the Academic Senate as Chair of the Budget Committee and has served the university on matters of academic governance and budget planning.

“He knows the campus fiscal structure very well and I anticipate that he will be able to assist Academic Affairs a great deal in the coming year,” said Echeverria.

The position of Associate Provost for Academic Resources has been unoccupied since the appointment of Dr. Ken Shipley to the position of Interim Associate Provost in Spring, 2003. Since then, Shipley has served both as Interim Associate Provost and Associate Provost for Academic Resources.

“In consultation with the Executive Committee of the Academic Senate, I decided to invite a faculty member to assume the Academic Resources slot on a half time basis to assist Dr. Shipley and Academic Affairs as we go through the 2004-05 academic year,” said Echeverria. “In these challenging fiscal times, this still represents a .5 reduction in management positions at the Provost's level from two years ago. We plan to remain at one Associate Provost, where there had been two for many years.”
