Ag Boosters

The Ag Boosters 27 th Annual Barbecue will be held Sunday, Sept. 12, at the Dennes Coombs' Riverbend Ranch in Madera. Grounds open at 4 p.m. and dinner will be served from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Over the years, the Ag Boosters BBQ has raised more than $450,000 for the Ag One Foundation and California Women for Agriculture (CWA). This support has played an important role in Ag One's ability to support students and programs in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology at Fresno State. In the 2004-05 academic year, $200,000 will be awarded. Additionally, CWA uses the funds raised by the BBQ to help tell the story of California agriculture through education, legislative programs and by giving nearly $100,000 in scholarships annually.

The afternoon festivities include a working dog demonstration by the San Joaquin Valley Border Collie Association, CWA Country Store featuring homemade arts, crafts and baked goods, Fresno State sausage sampling, cheese tasting sponsored by Valley dairy processors, display of antique tractors and cars, silent and live auctions and raffle prizes plus a fabulous door prize.

Tickets for BBQ dinner, dessert and entertainment are $45 each or a table of 10 for $450 each.

The drawing for the Fantasy Vacation also will be held. The prize is an all-expense paid trip for two (choices are Alaskan cruise, New Zealand, Milan or Ireland) plus $1,000 cash spending money.

Tickets for the Fantasy Vacation are five for $100 or $25 each. The first 2,000 received will be eligible for the drawing. All net proceeds help Ag One to provide support to the College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology at Fresno State.

For information on the barbecue or Fantasy Vacation, contact Ag One at 8-4266.
