New development directors named
Two new directors for development joined the Division of University Advancement staff over the summer. Gregory J. Walaitis was named associate athletic director for development and Jesse R. Arreguin was named director of development for two colleges – the College of Social Sciences and the College of Arts and Humanities. Walaitis has more than 14 years of administrative experience in sports marketing, management, development, corporate sponsorship sales and new business development. He will be responsible for leading and managing all athletic boosters clubs in fund raising and constituent relations. He also will work on securing major gifts from individuals, corporations and foundations, and serve as executive director of the new Green V Association. He previously was director of marketing partnerships for the Phoenix International Raceway, was director of business development for NASCAR Images in Charlotte, N.C., and worked for 12 years in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at Arizona State University in Tempe, rising to the position of assistant athletic director for corporate sales and marketing. Walaitis holds a bachelor of science degree in exercise science/sports administration and a master's of education in Education Administration and Supervision, both from Arizona State University. Arreguin is the former executive director of the Fresno Regional Foundation. He will be responsible for leading fund raising and constituent relations for the Social Sciences and Arts and Humanities. He had worked for the Fresno Regional Foundation since 1996. Prior to that he was director of the Fresno Youth Development Initiative and was field representative for State Sen. Jim Costa. He holds a bachelor of arts degree in political science from the University of California at Davis. He served on the boards of MALDEF Leadership Development Program and Central California Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Arreguin has two children, a son who serves in Coast Guard and daughter who is a senior at Fresno State. |
