Limited spring applications

Despite the restoration of some enrollment funds in the new state budget, Fresno State must limit the number of applications for admission in the spring 2005 semester. It is the second consecutive spring that limits have been imposed.

Applications will not be accepted for the spring semester from first-time freshmen, lower-division transfer students or postbaccalaureate unclassified students.

The state budget allows Fresno State to offer admission for the spring semester to 530 students who were on the fall 2004 waiting list. But continuing budget constraints and limited space availability will force the restrictions on accepting applications from new freshmen, lower-division transfer and postbaccalaureate unclassified students, said Bernie Vinovrski, said associate vice president for Enrollment Services.

In addition to the 530 students on the waiting list, the university will accept applications for the spring 2005 semester until Sept. 30, 2004, for students in the following categories:

• Returning students.

• New upper-division transfers.

• Graduate students pursuing a master’s program, credential, Advanced Certificate, Certificate in Enology or a second bachelor’s degree in the sciences and other subject areas with critical need.

All applications for admission for the spring 2005 semester must be filed electronically via the CSUMENTOR Web site.  Applications must be completed and submitted by midnight on Sept. 30, 2004.  The CSU Application for Admission is available on the Web at http://www.csumentor.edu.

Students not yet accepted to a graduate program but planning to apply should be aware that there are also limits on the number of units taken prior to admission to a graduate program that can be accepted toward the degree or certificate program, and that enrollment in 200-level course work is limited to those accepted into a graduate or credential program.

Questions regarding application deadlines can be addressed to Admissions, Records and Evaluations at 8-2261.
