Director of Planned Giving Joins University Development Team

Carol W. Widmer, a certified financial planner with wide experience in business, health care and education, has been named director of Planned Giving in the Division of University Advancement at California State University, Fresno.

Widmer’s main responsibility will be to help donors and potential donors find creative, tax-advantaged ways to make gifts to Fresno State during the university’s upcoming campaign to attract private giving.

She most recently was director of planned giving at Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles for three years and previously worked at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles and Union College in New York. She also has worked in real estate, securities and insurance sales.

“I’m looking forward to helping design a program that will help donors maximize their gifts to our comprehensive campaign and play a part in the transformation of the university and the region,” she said.

Widmer has a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Illinois and a master’s degree in English from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. She is a member of the Financial Planners Association and has been active in several professional and community organizations.
