Last soccer home games
The women's soccer team will make its final four home appearances this month, beginning tonight against WAC foe UTEP (7 p.m.). The 'Dogs continue league host play against SMU on Oct. 3, Nevada on Oct. 10 and Hawai'i on Oct. 22. The men's golf team will make its lone home appearance of the 2004-05 season this month when it hosts the Fresno State Lexus Classic at Ft. Washington Country Club, Oct. 8-9.
Women’s golf
As did the women's golf team, freshman golfer Laura Luethke made her collegiate debut at the Ptarmigan/Ram Classic last month and carded an outstanding performance. With an eighth place finish for the first-year program overall, Luethke captured her first collegiate victory after finishing three strokes under at 213 (68-74-71) and two ahead of Colorado's Hannah Hoch. more
International goodwill
For 22 years, the best collegiate golfers in the U.S. have traveled to Japan to test their game against that of the Japanese. For eight of those years, Fresno State’s men’s head golf coach Mike Watney has served as chairman for this now prestigious tournament, the Topy Cup. more

Johnson-Klein named ‘Best Personality’
Fresno State women's basketball head coach Stacy Johnson-Klein was honored in Fresno Magazine's "Best of Fresno" issue, earning the distinction of "Best Sports Personality" in a poll conducted by readers of the publication. more
NCAA championships host
For the first time in school history, Fresno State has been selected to host the 2004-05 first and second round of the NCAA Women's Basketball Championship games, March 19 and 21, at the Save Mart Center. There will be eight teams competing in Fresno and all six games will be broadcast live on ESPN or ESPN2. more
BCS busters
Winning back-to-back road games for the first time since 1981, the Fresno State football team continues to wreak havoc with BCS teams. The Bulldogs, who started the season off with consecutive wins over BCS team for the second time in four years, have won their last three games against BCS competition and have gone 9-6 in their last 15 games versus BCS teams; nine of these opponents were ranked in the Top 25 at time of play.
Women’s tennis
The Fresno State women's tennis team garnered an Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Award after posting at least a team cumulative GPA of 3.2. Individually, Jelena Pandzic, Lucia Tallo, Katharina Winterhalter and Courtney Jantz also were honored as ITA Scholar-Athletes. On the men's side, Greg Shearer and Stefan Suta were also selected as ITA Scholar-Athletes.

Celebrating 15 years of women's sports
The Western Athletic Conference is celebrating 15 years of women's sports during the 2004-05 season. With women joining the WAC in 1990, the High Country Athletic Conference merged with the WAC and the women's sports was had under the current league. While 55 NCAA team titles have been won under the WAC umbrella since 1962, the women have sported four team national titles: Cross Country (1997, BYU), Golf (1992, San Jose State), Gymnastics (1992, Utah) and Softball (1998, Fresno State).
Varsity F Club Football
The revitalization of Varsity F Club Football is under way. A group of former Fresno State football players, in conjunction with the Fresno State Alumni Association, have re-established this club in hopes of keeping the tradition of Bulldog football flourishing. more

New Web features
Fresno State 's athletics Web site, www.gobulldogs.com, which continues to experience record traffic each month, has added two new features. The Bulldogs' academic success will be archived to showcase outstanding performances by the student-athletes. The second new feature will be a page highlighting Bulldog Olympians.
Veteran rider newest head coach
Becky Malmo, a veteran of more than 25 years in the sport of equestrian, takes the reigns as head equestrian coach this year – the third in the program's history. She replaces former head coach Chuck Smallwood, who resigned in June. more
