Russian ensemble Nov. 1
The
Nevsky Vocal Ensemble from Russia will present a free concert Monday,
Nov. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the Music Building Concert Hall.
The group, founded in 1997, has been lauded for its "refined choral
singing" and a "high standard of performance." The six-member ensemble
consists of graduates and students of the St. Petersburg State Conservatory
who perform the classical Russian music of Bortnianski, Chesnokov, Rachmaninoff
and others, plus works of modern composers and interpretations of Russian
folk songs.
The ensemble maintains an active performance schedule, including wide
concert activity both in Russia and abroad in France , Germany , Switzerland
and Spain . They are currently on an extended tour of the United States
.
The concert is free and donations to support their tour will be received.
