Armenian concert Dec. 5

Award-winning composer and musician Robert Amirkhanian will present a concert of his contemporary Armenian music, accompanied by vocalist Seda Amirkarayan Sargsyan, on Sunday, Dec. 5. The concert, sponsored by the Armenian studies program, will be held at 4 p.m. in the Music Building Concert Hall.

Amirkhanian entered the professional music arena in the mid-1960's and soon became an acknowledged master of the vocal-instrumental genre. He is head of the Composers' Union of Armenia and chair of the Department of Music Theory at the Komitas Conservatory of Music in Yerevan.

Vocal accompanist Sargsyan, a graduate of the Komitas Conservatory, has performed in concerts in Armenia, Russia, Lebanon, the United States and elsewhere.
