Preserving fossils
Students and faculty have been working alongside California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) officials for the last two years to ensure that any ancient plants and animals that might be buried in the path of the Highway 180 extensions will be preserved. more

Fire prevention reminder
A new survey from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has found Americans underestimate their risk of fire. Choosing from a list of disasters, 31 percent of those surveyed said they felt most at risk for tornado, while only 27 percent named fire as the highest risk, followed by hurricane (14 percent), earthquake (9 percent), flood (9 percent) and terrorist attack (5 percent). more

Bulldog Walkway
A new, permanent on-campus tribute to Fresno State alumni, graduates and friends was dedicated on the north side of the Save Mart Center by the Fresno State Alumni Association. Future plans include extending Bulldog Walkway to the Smittcamp Alumni House and throughout the campus. Personalized tiles are priced at $250, $500 and $1,000 each. Moldova books project
Fresno State is sending 20,000 lbs of books to a sister institution in Moldova. Moldova is the poorest country in Europe and resources in the country are very limited. The sister university, Balti State ‘A Russo’ University has a library that is gravely insufficient for the needs of its 7,000 students. more
Homecoming tailgate
Bulldogs of all ages enjoyed a Homecoming Tailgate sponsored by the Alumni Association before the Fresno State vs. SMU football game. Highlights included appearances by Timeout and the Fresno State cheerleaders. The 224-member Bulldog Marching Band, under the direction of Dr. Gary Gilroy, also led the crowd in singing the Alma Mater.

Scholars from Yale, Duke and Oxford universities will visit Fresno State next February to participate in a national forum featuring public discussions of the relationships between faith, truth and the pursuit of knowledge. more

Golden Grad Society
Fresno State’s Class of 1954 was recently honored by President John D. Welty and the Fresno State Alumni Association with the Golden Grad Society Reunion. Classmates rekindled fond memories and were awarded Golden Grad Society Medallions.
