Sweeney returns
One of the most renowned figureheads in Bulldog athletics has joined the Fresno State athletics staff once again. Jim Sweeney, who retired as head football coach after the 1996 season, is working with Associate Athletics Director for Development Greg Walaitis on a variety of projects, including alumni and community relations and the organization of the Varsity F program. Baseball recruiting class
The Fresno State baseball program’s 2004-05 recruiting class was ranked No. 17 in the nation, as announced by Collegiate Baseball this fall. more

Graduation rates improve dramatically
Continuing to make great strides in improving its academic success, the Fresno State’s athletic department has shown an 11 percent increase in the overall department’s graduation rate, as released by the NCAA. more
NCAA Championships host
For the first time in school history, Fresno State has been selected to host the 2004-05 first and second round of the NCAA Women's Basketball Championship games, March 19 and 21, at the Save Mart Center. more
NFL connection
Fresno State’s football program continues to rank among the nation’s best at producing NFL players as 15 former Bulldogs are currently active on the professional ranks. more
New, bigger buildings
Funded by private donations, Fresno State student-athletes and coaches will enjoy the addition of two new facilities to aid in their quest to meet both the highest academic and athletic standards. more
Time Out Club
With all luncheons and dinner meetings being held in the Residence Dining Facility, the 2004-05 Time Out Club dates have been set. The first set of luncheons will be Nov. 23 and Dec. 14. more

Ride the Red Wave
Bulldog Basketball Booster bus trips have been set for the upcoming year. With four trips on the docket, the first road trip is to USC on Wednesday, Dec. 8. A trip to San Francisco on Thursday, Dec. 23, will close out the year. more
2 new coaches named
Sarah Schneider (Equestrian) and Jay Udwadia (Men’s Tennis) are the latest additions to the Fresno State coaching staff. more
Major
donation
Todd Bowen, coordinator of broadcast and video production for the Fresno State athletics department, secured a major donation from CBS Studies. With CBS changing over its camera and equipment, the standard equipment was no longer of service. As a result, through several phone calls and letter writing, Bowen received a donation of three studio cameras, a large production switcher, four camera lenses and multiple camera and audio cables. The estimated value of the equipment is approximately $175,000.
ReadFresno Book Drive
Fresno State student-athletes collected nearly 700 books after spearheading the ReadFresno Book Drive last month. Collecting children’s books at home football and basketball games, the Bulldogs were able to present One by One Leadership badly needed books to help promote literacy for elementary school children.
