Improved spam filters
One of the biggest problems facing most e-mail users is the continuing stream of unsolicited e-mail (spam) appearing in their mailboxes.  Over the past several years, the ITS department has been working with the campus Information and Educational Technology Coordinating Committee (IETCC) to identify appropriate measures to help deal with this problem.  Since 2003, we've offered the SpamAssassin e-mail filter to help users control spam directed to their email accounts.  more

Telecom project update
Work on the telecommunication infrastructure project continued through rain and shine in December and into January. The bad weather has slowed the project down to some extent, but the contractor has completed 17 telecom vaults in areas along Barstow, Campus Drive, San Ramon, San Bruno, Keats, Barton, and Maple avenues. more

New Master Calendar
The university has purchased a new Event Scheduling software package.  Included with the software is a web-based Master Calendar of events which is available at http://events.csufresno.edumore

Winemaster's Weekend
The Fresno State Winemaster's Weekend at the Tenaya Lodge in Yosemite on March 4 and 5 will introduce new features including the chance for participants to blend wines and learn about wine judging from Pooch Pucilowski of Sacramento, director of the California Sate Fair wine competition. more

Photographer Tony Gleaton to speak Feb. 1
Award-winning photographer and Texas Tech University professor Tony Gleaton, who has traveled throughout Latin America seeking out and photographing black communities, will be featured Tuesday, Feb. 1, in the University Lecture Series. more

‘Does God Exist?’ will be debate topic
A debate on the topic “Does God Exist?” will be one of the highlights of the Fresno Veritas Forum at Fresno State, Feb. 15-17, sponsored by Associated Students and a coalition of other campus and community groups. more

Child with asthma

Researchers report asthma epidemic
One-third of adolescents diagnosed with asthma in the San Joaquin Valley miss one to two days of school each month, Fresno State researchers stated in a recently released report. "Struggling to Breathe: The Epidemic of Asthma Among Children and Adolescents in the San Joaquin Valley" was published by the Central California Children's Institute at Fresno State and funded by The California Endowment with additional support of Kaiser Permanente Central California. more

Bulldog Walkway
The board of directors of the Fresno State Alumni Association has purchased two personalized bricks for Bulldog Walkway in honor of Bulldog Olympians Laura Berg and Stephen Abas. The bricks will be installed at the Save Mart Center this spring. Visit the Alumni Association Web site for more information on the Bulldog Walkway. more
