FFS building closure
The Family Food Science building will be closed from 10 p.m. Thursday Feb. 3, until 6 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8 for abatement in the building associated with the TII project. more
FIPSE grants cancelled
The Chronicle of Higher Education recently reported that the U. S. Department of Education has cancelled its 2004 Funds to Improve Postsecondary Education (FIPSE) grant competition. Fresno State has received numerous FIPSE awards in the past, because faculty and staff had submitted seven proposals totaling over $1.5 million.

Interfaith Scholar Weekend
The Interfaith Scholar Weekend 2005 will be held Feb. 11-13 at Temple Beth Israel and College Community Congregational Church. Free diversity workshops
Two “Welcoming Diversity Workshops” are scheduled this spring. The first is Friday, Feb. 25, in the University Business Center. The second workshop is scheduled Saturday, April 2, in the Renaissance Room. Both workshops are scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. more
Diversity conference
The Central Valley Cultural Heritage Institute’s first regional diversity conference is scheduled Oct. 8-11, 2005. The planning committee is inviting campus and community members to join them in ongoing planning for this event. more
Ergonomic tips
The Office of Environmental Health and Safety / Risk Management offers the following tips on ergonomics in the office. Ergonomics is the science of fitting work or workplaces to the human body, to help avoid injury or illness while performing work duties. Most people do not realize they can do some simple checks on their own to make themselves more comfortable to help prevent a work injury or illness. more

The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs announced 11 new grant awards received Jan. 5-17 totaling $890,549. more
Great Valley Center cancels program
The Great Valley Center in Modesto will discontinue its LEGACI grant program due to a 50 percent reduction in funding from $6 million in 2004 to $3 million for 2005. The LEGACI grant program has awarded over $5 million since 1999 to nonprofit agencies in the Central Valley, including Fresno State. more

The Kids Invent! after-school programs are seeking donations of old appliances from around the house (e.g. telephones, VCRs, radios, toaster ovens, etc.). If you have any old appliances to donate to please contact the Lyles Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at 294-2045. more

V-Day
Last year more than 1,100 communities hosted V-Day benefits around the
world raising funds and awareness towards ending violence against women.
These highly successful events raised over $4 million through performance
of Eve Ensler’s award-winning play, “The Vagina Monologues.”
