Indirect cost recovery

At the midway point of the fiscal year, the Provost's Office commends the following four units for generating an average of over 10 percent in indirect cost recovery from a variety of grants and contracts: The College of Social Sciences (14%), The California Water Institute (14%), The College of Science and Mathematics (13%) and the Office of University Research and Sponsored Programs (11%).

Indirect cost recovery is critical to the health of research and sponsored programs because it supports the substantial administrative costs beyond those that are directly tied to specific programs.
