Great Valley Center cancels program

The Great Valley Center in Modesto will discontinue its LEGACI grant program due to a 50 percent reduction in funding from $6 million in 2004 to $3 million for 2005. The LEGACI grant program has awarded over $5 million since 1999 to nonprofit agencies in the Central Valley, including Fresno State.

The Great Valley Center is also considering eliminating its Central Valley Digital Network, which trains agencies in computer and Internet use. It also may discontinue its college mentoring program for promising youth.
