University Lecture Series Feb. 23Fresno State alumnus Dr. James R. Kennedy, associate director of operations at the Gemini Observatory in Hilo, Hawaii, will speak at the University Lecture Series on Wednesday, Feb. 23, at 7:30 p.m. in the Satellite Student Union. His topic is “There are more things in heaven and earth than are dreamt of in your philosophy.” Kennedy is a graduate of the Fresno State physics department. The Gemini Observatories are an international partnership managed by the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy in cooperative agreement with the National Science Foundation. Kennedy will talk about the challenging work the observatory will undertake during the next five years. Included will be the search for the source of the mysterious dark energy which is causing the universe to expand at an ever-increasing rate. The event is free and open to the public.
