TOP grants cut

The US Department of Commerce recently announced that the Technology Opportunities Program (TOP) had been eliminated effective immediately. TOP grants, which were very competitive, have been used to promote the widespread availability and use of digital network technologies in the public and non-profit sectors.

Fresno State's University Business Center received a $480,000 TOP award several years ago. The UBC leveraged this federal funding to attract an additional $490,000 in matching funds from the State of California. The UBC was in the processes of reapplying when it received notification of the program's cancellation.
