The following students were selected for the 2005 All-State Honor Band: Mary Jane Carignan, Chris Golden, Eric Ritter and Pierce Yamaoka. Out of a thousand students statewide who submitted audition tapes, only one third were selected. Each high school is limited to submitting only six tapes, so getting four students selected of the six who submitted audition tapes from UHS is great, said Dr. Brad Huff, head of school.

Seventeen UHS students auditioned for this year’s Fresno Madera County Music Educators Association Honor Band. The following 13 students participated in the event, three making first chair: Mark Berglund, Mary Jane Carignan, Andrew Davis, Peter Davis, Fumiko Egawa, Chris Golden (First chair horn), Max Krongaus, Dani Lencioni, Nico Lencioni, Eric Ritter (First chair clarinet), Matt Shaver, Pierce Yamaoka, and Matt Young (First chair bassoon).

The following 17 UHS students were selected for the FMCMEA Honor Orchestra: John Abdallah, Carson Baucher, Mary Jane Carignan, Andrew Davis, Taylor Eisley, Stephen Geddert, Chris Golden, Danial Husain, Qainat Khan, Chris Kubota, Kaile Kubota, Josh Lee, Jiahui Lin,Ian Porteous, Eric Ritter, Darren Sue, Pierce Yamaoka and Matt Young.
