WAC Academic Alliance

WAC Academic Alliance

The Western Athletic Conference represents 10 universities distributed among seven states. The desire to utilize the athletic base to develop an Academic Alliance, one that would build upon the vast array of capabilities resident in these universities, has resulted in the convening of the WAC Academic Alliance.

A symposium will be held July 27-30 at San Jose State University. The deadline for submission of abstracts is March 31.

Attendees will include representatives from the WAC universities, government agencies and private companies. The objective of bringing WAC university faculty together in one common forum is to foster interaction with the potential for development of future collaborations. Papers from WAC university faculty, research associates and administrators are solicited in one of the five following topical areas:

- Issues related to water supplies and sources
- Alternate energy sources
- Globalizing the educational enterprise, including advances in academic technology
- Technology applications in homeland security, including disaster

Send abstracts (250 words maximum) in MS Word format, via e-mail attachment, to conference coordinator Dr. Guna Selvaduray of San Jose State University, at gunas@email.sjsu.edu.

Further information on this conference and registration information can be obtained by contacting Jessica Tran at jessica.tran@sjsu.edu.
