Women’s History Month

In honor of Women’s History Month, the faculty of the Women’s Studies Program will present a lunchtime “brown bag” series at noon on Wednesdays in the University Student Union.

All presentations focus on recent research projects, including two that were supported by sabbaticals (Jan Slagter and Ellen Gruenbaum).  They will include slides and time for discussion.

The events are open to faculty, staff and students. People are encouraged to bring their lunches.

The programs will be held from noon to 1 p.m. They include:

  • “The Seduction of War” by Elizabeth Swearingen on March 2 in USU 312-314.

  •  Jan Slagter will speak on “Women Organizing in Guatemala and Argentina: Taking the Streets, the Fields, the Factories” on March 9 in USU 309.

  •  Kathryn Forbes, “Making Invisible Lives Visible:  Farmworker Housing in the San Joaquin Valley” on March 16, USU 317.

  •  Ellen Gruenbaum on March 30, USU 312-314, “Feminism and Female Genital Cutting.”
