Cleo Bauer retiresRetiring from Fresno State after 10 years of service in January, Cleo Bauer was an assistant director in the Fresno State student-athlete services department. Responsible for advising softball, women's soccer, wrestling, track and field and cross country, Bauer worked with student-athletes from the time they were recruits until they graduated. She assisted student-athletes in course and major selection as well as assuring compliance with NCAA eligibility standards. She also was responsible for student-athletes applications for post-graduate scholarships and awards. In addition, she managed the fifth-year scholarship program, which provides support for student-athletes completing their final semesters after finishing athletic eligibility. She worked closely with the Kiwanis Clubs of Fresno and Madera Counties (District 5) for the past eight years to produce the Kiwanis Torch of Excellence dinner honoring the more than 50 percent of Fresno State student-athletes who achieve a 3.0 cum GPA the previous year. Bauer previously worked at California State University, Chico as the director of Student Development and as the dean of Development at San Joaquin College of Law in Fresno. She was the testing coordinator at Fresno State Bauer and the University Student Union director, a position she also held at Cornell University in New York. |
