Kiwanis Torch of Excellence

The Ninth Annual Kiwanis Torch of Excellence Dinner to honor more than 250 scholar-athletes will be held Monday, May 9, at 6 p.m., at the Radisson Hotel in downtown Fresno.

This event, sponsored annually by Kiwanis Clubs of Fresno and Madera counties, has grown each year.  While more Fresno State student-athletes continue to achieve a cumulative 3.0 GPA, the university has seen significant growth by athletes in the classroom. The number has grown from 169 (39 percent) to 267 (51%) being honored for academic success since the event was first held in 1992.

KMPH sportscaster Ralph Wood will emcee the dinner for the second year in a row. While KMPH/Fox 26 and Educational Employees Credit Union continue to be major sponsors, others can be involved by contacting Keith Kramer (559) 291-2947). Individual tickets can be purchased for $40 through April 20 and $45 after this date.
