Cognitive Science series The Cognitive Science Speaker Series continues through April and the beginning of May. On April 6, Dr. David Beisecker of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas spoke on “Consciousness and Emotion.” Beisecker is the author of numerous publications in philosophy and cognitive science in such journals as Philosophy and Mind and Language. On May 4, Dr. Sergei Nirenburg of the Institute for Language and Information Technologies and the University of Maryland, Baltimore County will be giving a talk entitled “Machine Translation and Natural Language Processing.” Nirenburg is a world-renowned expert in the field of machine translation and is the author of several books, including “Ontological Semantics.” The speech is free and open to the public. It will be from 6-8:30 p.m. in East Engineering, room 180. |
