Vicente Gonzalez Loscertales, Secretary General of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) in Paris, was the featured speaker at the World’s Fair Symposium held March 30 to April 1 in San Francisco. The symposium was sponsored by the Madden Library's Special Collections Library .more

Fresno State’s entrepreneurship program claimed high rankings in a survey of more than 500 entrepreneurial colleges and universities by Entrepreneur magazine. more

Yarbrough finalist for prestigious award
English professor Steve Yarbrough was one of four finalists for the prestigious PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction. The national prize is awarded each year for the best work of fiction by an American author. more
African-American enrollment
In an effort to boost enrollment of African-American students, the California State University system asked community leaders in March what the CSU can do to assist more students to attend one of its 23 campuses and make sure they graduate. The CSU wants to increase enrollment of undergraduate and graduate African-American students from the 22,500 currently enrolled. more

Harper joins advisers
President Welty has named Fresno health care administrator Corwin N. Harper to the University Advisory Board, a panel of community members who provide the president advice regarding the improvement and development of the university. more
Alum donates $150,000
A former Fresno State football team athletic manager has donated $150,000 to the university. Charlie Keyan of Indio, a retired businessman and farmer who graduated in 1948, has established two endowed scholarships. more
Health leadership program
April 13 is the application deadline for the Health Policy Leadership Development Program, a one-of-a-kind leadership program that focuses on the knowledge, competencies and relationship networks required to improve health policies and programs in the San Joaquin Valley. The program builds on the best of existing leadership development programs and is tailored specifically to those individuals who are committed to improving health in the Valley. more
Maddy Institute hosts workshop
On March 24, more than 50 community leaders attended a Maddy Institute workshop on community collaboration sponsored by the Cal Dooley Leadership Fund. The workshop, entitled “'How Then Shall We Collaborate,” focused on providing governmental and civic leaders with new insights and new tools to increase the community collaboration and bi-partisan political leadership. more
