Invention to Venture

The second “Invention to Venture” workshop, part of a national series of workshops in technology-drive entrepreneurship, will be offered at California State University, Fresno on Saturday, April 23.

The workshop is sponsored by the Lyles Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Fresno State in collaboration with the National Collegiate Inventors & Innovators Alliance. The workshop will be held in the University Business Center at Fresno State. from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Registration is $65 for the general public and $25 for students.

The workshop will focus on technology commercialization, and provides an opportunity for participants to learn technology entrepreneurship basics, plus build their networks and develop plans for moving their ideas forward.

The national Invention to Venture series has been established to tap the entrepreneurial ambitions of students and faculty on college campuses across the United States. Participants discover how to turn an idea into a new product venture, and connect with the local people and programs that can help them turn their ideas into a reality.

Speakers include: Kirk Nagamine of VIPSpree.com; Jon & Alison Haugan of OptiStreams (an INC 500 company); Steve Years of Sun Micro Systems; and
Todd Stemler of Central Valley Fund L.P.

At Invention to Venture, participants will:
• Explore technology entrepreneurship fundamentals.
• Discover how to turn an innovative product idea into a new technology venture.
• Network with the people who can help make ideas a reality.
• Have a chance to win $1,000 in a business plan competition.
