Musical journey to Venice

The Fresno State Chamber Singers, the Women’s Chorus and the Fresno Community Chorus Chamber Singers will take a springtime musical journey to one of the world’s most romantic cities – Venice.  On Saturday, May 7, the choirs will present an evening of music related to that famed Italian city. The performance will be in the Concert Hall at 8 p.m. Under the direction of Dr. Anna Hamre, the ensembles will have organ and brass accompaniment for the program.

The 2005-2006 season marks the 50th anniversary of Fresno Community Chorus, one of the premier presenters of choral classical music in Central California.

The singers will perform the music of Gabrieli, Schuetz and Rossini. Soloists will include Sherah Moore, Tami Kenyon, Chris Darling and Mike Bell. They will be accompanied by Catherine Walker, Naira Shahsouvarian and Dr. Natasha Kislenko.

Tickets are $7, general admission; $6 for faculty and $5 for students.  They may be reserved by calling the Music Department at 8-2654 or  Hamre’s office at 8-2539.  Tickets may also be purchased at the door.
